Because there is always more to explore…
I have been trip planning (and trip dreaming) since about 6th grade. I self-funded a trip to China at age 16 and then scraped enough money together to do a 4-night trip to Iceland the following year. Since then (I’m now 44), I’ve covered a lot of territory.
After years of traveling, I’ve come to realize that we are not all looking for the same thing. Here’s my travel trifecta:
Nature: It rarely disappoints, always feeds the soul, and is important to introduce your children to young (and before technology).
Food: Real Food. We look for fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and try to expose our children to as many taste-experiences as possible. Nothing like that great “mop and pop” restaurant that always has the local specialty on the menu!
Local experiences: Whether we are making macarons in Paris or learning about sea life in South Carolina, these educational experiences are often some of our favorite memories from our travels and a great way to connect with the experts of the area.
Beyond that, I’m mother to two amazing boys, wife to an incredible adventure companion, and a former teacher who loves to learn. *Travel* is my happy place and after seven continents, 50 some countries (and a handful of territories), I still have a long way to go.
